You want good clean sound? You have to invest in something that will produce it, which is a good HU.... I'm biased to Alpine, but then again... there aren't a lot of decks that will come close to what they have to offer.

The one thats paid for!! There is never "The Best" trust me. Just when you think your happy......WRONG! Never happy always want louder, cleaner, and overall better. Its a habit.

what i think would be a pretty decent setup is:
-Alpine 9855 headunit
-Infinity reference series 6812cf (6x8) all around
-2 12" Kicker comp vrs (800rms combined)
-MA audio HK898 2 chan amp
nothing too fancy just some decent upgrade from stock

Hey,
whats also important is the size of the car your installing the system into, as well as what type of music you listen to.
I have a 1995 Astro Van and honestly and prefer the dance and house music genres.
I find that the new Rockford Fosgate Punch series amp (325.1) sufficiently powers my one 12" Rockford P3 (p312d4) sub. (I keep the P3 in a sealed box btw)
As for the deck, I have a Pioneer DEH-4800.
And lastly, the Astro Van came stock with a 6-speaker system which i replaced. There are 4 6.5's and 2 4's, all of which are different brands. The 6.5's are Infinity refs in the front and audiobahn A65V's in the back. As for the 4" speakers, they are panasonics. All together they sound great.
The only problem I notice with this setup is that, unless im in the back, the back 4 speakers are almost entirely drowned out by the sub.

What a topic..this thread could last for pages....there are way too many brands out there....
In my opinion and personal use:
Best bang for the buck - MA Audio / Phoenix Gold
SPL - Adire / RE
