I recently replaced my 4 year old Rockford Fosgate 6x9's with some JBL 6x9's, and upon doing so, about 5 hours later both speakers make static noises when reaching medium volumes.

I noticed that when I Balance to the Right, the speaker is clear and get quite loud. If I fade towards Center or Left, both speakers go completely static.

I have already tried my left speaker in the right door and it sounds great. So it has nothing to do with the speakers themselves.

I double checked my harness and everything looks great.

Just looking for some more ideas.

check to see that they are both wired properly, sounds like one might be out of phase or that one of the terminals is touching metal. double check the make sure that the terminals are not hitting any metal better yet tape them up so there is no chance of them shorting to the car. If the speaker terminals are touching metal then that should fix the problem. If they are just out of phase switching the leads on one of the speakers will give you better sound when the balance is centered.

I put the fade all the way to the front and the static stopped, but my left speaker still sounds weak. I will check for the terminals and tape them.

Maybe I just reversed the +/- wires and it sounds like crap.?

Why is it that I have to Fade all the way to the front to stop the static?, I never had to do that with my old JVC deck.

I am pretty sure that its happening eigther because one of the terminals is touching metal or something is wrong with the deck. I think that the only reason that the static goes away is because when you fade or change the balance you are reducing the power going to the speaker that has the problem. Once it is fixed everything should be fine. Old JVC deck? Wait, did you change the deck too? If so , then check your wiring to make sure that none of the wires are bare and shorting to metal (shorting out).

If it is a case of reversing the wires you would hear a bass when your balance is left or right and less when you center the balance control but it doesn't hurt to check.

I switched from an old JVC to a more updated JVC deck.

All the wired are taped. I only have the 2 front door speakers, so the Fade is all the way Front to those 2 speakers and the static has stopped. The left speaker sounds weak and more bass like then the right speaker. Could it be +/- wires mixed ? I hope so. If its the deck I wont be happy.

These 2 speakers cant seem to handle the load the last 2 I had. Very unfortunate

Sounds kinda weird, hard to tell without being there to test it in person, so there are no speakers in the back? Are those wires taped up? swap out the new deck for the old one and see if it works. If the old deck works then you might have a problem with the new one. I dont think its a +/- wire problem because if it was switching the wire will not make the speaker sound less 'weak' . What do you mean it 'sounds weak and more bass likethen the right speaker'? If I am reading that right it sound like the tweeter is blown, but its hard to give a proper answer without seeing it in real life.

I appreciate the posts, I thought everyone would ignore my problem.

I am going to hook up the speaker directly to the deck instead of through the harness, if the problem is still there, its obviously the deck, if not, a wiring problem.

Well see how it goes this morning.
