CB Radio

So yesterday i just got a brand new Cobra Classic CB Full Featured radio for my car. My next dilema is what to do about an antenna? Any suggestions would be helpful. My neighbor has one on his vette that just comes off a bracket off the back and yeah i was thinking about mounting a smaller one next to my stock antenna so let me know what you think i should do!

thanks
vince

I'd say get highest biggest attenna you can get, in fact get a whole bunch until you look like those news crew guys..

But seriously, I'm pretty positive you can get a lower profile one, it won't get as good reception obvioulsy, but it will still get the job done.

nope. you need a new antenna. i work with big trucks all day, i know. it uses a coax cable and has thicker copper wire running up the antenna. standard stereos have the slip in antenna input on the back of the deck, cb's have a screw in coax port for the antenna. you need one for a cb

If i were to mount this antenna on a plate connected to something on the underbody of the car would it have to be made out of a special steel or not?>

to not burn up your radio you need a real cb antennae, swr needs to be checked and is usually tuned with teh mast (most are around 100 inches tall) they do have a standard radio antennae that has the cb hookup also, but it's garbage for either
