Few audio Questions

First, i am looking for a deck. But what is good in performance. What am I looking for in specs? Looks are nice and all. But you can have something that looks great but performances like .

Also, what is it mean when a box is ported or not ported. And whats the difference about it.
Thx

Ported box will hit lower frequencies, non ported will be a tighter bass, depends on what you prefer. As for head unit, I couldnt tell you I am in the same boat, looking for a good one just so many to choose from.

Some pretty big misconceptions there.....

First off.... all boxes will pretty much play all frequencies.

You use a ported box to play certain frequencies more efficiently. If it's not made properly though you will actually have a box that sounds worse at lower freq's.

On that same note... if you get a poorly made sealed box it won't necessarily be 'tighter'.

A well made box is key to any install!!

For ur deck, when looking at different specifications u mainly have to think about what type of system u plan on puttin in, in the future. Some items u might want to consider are the number of pre-outs (front spkrs, rear spkrs, subwoofer) for ur amplifier connections.....also an auxilary connection for mp3 players etc...a built-in equalizer helps for fine tuning the sound to ur liking.....and a deck with high pass & low pass filters is a bonus too....good luck

pioneer decks are good. i have one myself, great sound quality. Just make sure you get one with high/low pass filters and mp3 playback. only problem is that pioneer makes you buy a separate kit for aux in.

Eclipse makes very good decks with a lot of options and 5 volt preouts.

My plan is to run a RF amp(1200 watts) and 2 RF punch 2 12's.
The amp itself has enough power to supply the 2 speakers.
Just need a nice deck that can supply the power to run the stock speakers. Which I will also be exchanging for better ones. But the Sizes will remain the same.

depends on your budget too. From experience, Pioneer is the best "bang for the buck" as they say. However, the only decks I would consider are Alpine, Eclipse & Pioneer.
