Question Good sub for home use?

Since my home sub died on me I'm looking for something to replace it. I think I will just build my own sub setup this time around. Probably use something like a plate amp to power it and build my own box. Any recommendations on a good sub for home use?

my other stereo well its band equpitment, but i use it as a home system is i have 2 huge boxes, with 2 18" comunity subs and loud speakers in each box them things are insane, i have them running off a 800 watt peavy? amp, earhart i think it is analizer and eq, and much much more, my dad used to be in a band and he bought all the stuff, and they broke up so i have it all too tool around with.

I will be using an orion xtr 12. A good 12 will work great dual voice coil can be wired to 8 ohms if the amp can't handle less (I have 1 more powerbass one)

Wrong voice coil setup and it can't take enough power.

how much power you looking to do? I put 800 watts to mine with no problem (not even a little distrortion) the dual voice coil can make 8 ohms I can also do a single voice coil. Most plate amps are not going to like a 4 ohm load (I used to have a stack of fried ones from it)
