Had an interesting demonstration

MTX did a demo for me today they took the top of the line sub from kicker and jl audio and killed them with a pro sound amp, the mtx kept running even when the amp was at full power and full distortion (the kicker didn't even make half volume on a crown pro amp) jl made just over half volume but when it died it seized the kicker started burning was quite fun just thought it would be of interest to a few people here

What kicker sub did they use? The best one they have is the solo baric X 18, they are rated at 5,000 watts

the x baric didn't last as long as the l7 (it made it to 100 watts) the l7 handled trhe most power of the kicker line (got to 102 volts)

wow thats weird, i thought the baric x would be the best, maybe thats why they make them in 3 pieces so you can replace the core when it blows lol

I guess, keep in mind kicker doesn't actually make anything they buy everything assembled and put their logos on (I worked for a distributor and we'd get stuff with the original manufacturer logo still on it)when I was with lanzar we built all kicker subs but I doubt pyramid took that business (last I knew rf was makeing the subs and eminece the other speakers the amps I'm not sure)

sony make NO car audio the only product the actually make now is 27" to 36" tv tubes, alot of companies used the lanzar sub (pretty much if it said made in USA and wasn't RF it was lanzar now rf and dd are the only actual manufacturers in the US and rf is the only us manufacturer of head units)

Clarion made a 32" sub, they still might..... Point is, I was at a place called Audio Fun. It was an after market shop made for cars. Audio, ground effects, you get the idea, they sold it all. They bumped the Clarion 32 for me, and the guy working was new so he didn't know NOT to crank it. LOL, let's just say the cone literally blew off the spider and started a fire on the carpet. Crazy!!!
