at the peddle there is a switch the lights are on when the peddle is down . off when the peddle is up. removing the fuse is another way . taking the bulbs out is another. if you for some reason want to be able to turn off the brake lights even when the brakes are on you would need to add another switch.

Do you mean that they stay on all the time? there is a little button behind the brake pedal lever that gets pushed whenever you push on the brake. It might just need adjustment. Or the switch might be worn out and need replacement. Not expensive. A garage can help you fix it.Regards, Mike

The best way would be to remove the fuse.
