To install a motion sensor in my car? I know they are made for verts so you can leave your top down and if someone reaches in the car the alarm will go off. I have never seen these sensors as a stand alone option and the local car audio shops refuse to sell you one unless they install it.

it's not too hard. i'll see what ones I have, they are only semi effective light effects tehm, and they are prone to false alarms, that's why I like ones that sense a battery draw (few thieves jump over the door, most open it)

just don't let a cop get near it, they are illegal since they false alarm so often, that's why they are only made by companies who you never heard of, and when you go to find them next year they don't exist (kind of like the plasma tv companies right now)

That would also be helpfull for those that have t-tops.

First time I've heard about it. Sucks that it's "illegal" . Maybe have it where two sensors are pointed at both the passanger and driver seats. Or have a "motion" sensor built into the seat or something. To keep the alarm from going off prematurely. I'm liking this idea... screw illegal !

why? think about it, someone walks by your car in a parking lot and the alarm goes off, it is just a big noise issue (and will make your car more likely to be ignored when the alarm goes off)

i had one on my 92 buick regal...i had a 2000 stereo system in it. the prox would have false alarms constantly...very annoying.

i took it in so many times to get it fixed and it still seemed to false alarm a lot.

i think my alarm in general was way over sensitive....cars would drive by chirp chirp chirp....the wind...what i didnt get is why it would go off in the garage for no reason.

because its somthing really stupid to make a law over... something protecting your car from a crime is a crime itself? just stupid

so at 3 am you want your neighbors alarm going off because someone walked by? that is stupid, and I can gaurantee if you have that happen enough times noone pays attention, you violate noise ordenances.Too sensitive ashock sensor is just as bad, the alarm going off constantly makes your car easier to target, since it is now ignored (like the boy who cried wolf)your also not protecting from a crime if it's that sensitive, you are protecting from normal parking lot events (I can legally touch your car in a parking lot)it's like macing someone who says hi to you, a bit overkill

that means the installer was incompetint, the sensitivity is adjustable, if it's at minimum the shock sensor is mounted in the wrong place
