i need an amp

well right now i have an interfire amp...there isnt a single sticker on it (except for the serial number) and all it says is interfire. i dont know much about it, except that its a 4 channel amp bridged into a 2 channel...and it sucks.

i need a new one to run my subs. theyre 12" crossfires...single 4 ohm voice coil, 200 rms, 350 max.

ive been cruising the net all night, mostly ebay, and cant really find what im looking for: a new or used amp around $100-$150 with 400 rms.

that's all I see in stock that meets your power and price requirement, and would be better than what you have

also bear in mind that todays watts are different, and those subs can handle more than 200 watts from a good amp or less from a bad amp (distortion kills subs I have only seen a couple of subs blown from overpowering, and that was in competition)

interfire is a korean company that is using legacy amps btw

it'll hit 600 watts at 32 volts at 1hz for 1ms then smoke

basically that thing will never hit that much power without blowing up. Keep the volume low or keep an extra sub

ryann 02-19-2006 02:02 PM

i still have that kicker ZR240 amp. i'd be willing to sell that for w/e really. 80 + shipping?. it was in the camaro. & i just didnt need it. added weight IMO. its been sittin in my room since.

would that really be what i need though? im not too much into this stuff, but i would assume since my subs can each handle 200 watts rms that i would need an amp that puts 400 rms...not 400 max.

pyle is pyramid, power acoustik won't do 400 watss if lightning strikes (I carry them, not bad for cheap but not better than what you have) jensen is about the same as you have. Speaker wattage is a useless measurement, speakers don't use watts, and if given clean power can handle more or less. The hard part is your price range. The amp I would prefer for you is backordered right now (it's a soundstream and is technically lower power than you want, but are usually underrated)
