mtx vs kicker

ok finaly wired up my system, and was desapointed. started thinking if the problem is in my pioneer gm-222 amp, the sealed box or the pyramid power 700W 12" sub. called up my buddy and ask him if i could try out his 12" mtx thunder 6000 in my box with my amp, so we did and holy shi t what a diff. so its the stupied pyramid sub.

now i have a choice of a replacement sub, a 12" mtx thunder 6000 in my sealed box, or i can get a 10" kicker competion in a kicker slot ported slim box. which would you guys and gals sugest? keep in mind its will be powered by a 80 rms pioneer amp.

thanks everybody

ported boxes generally give you more volume

I prefer sealed, awesome for tight bass. Can you try these sub enclosures before buying ?

well the kicker comp is 150 rms

and i think the mtx 6000 would be more than that (200rms +)
what i would do is make sure i have a amp that has the exact wattage (or slighlty more)
then the sub...believe me a greater difference

Your sub will perform best if the amp is pushing the RMS rating of the sub.

I would say Kicker, but that's a personal preference. You need to listen to both subs in the type of enclosure you want and then make a decision.

the pyramid is gone and the JL Audio is here, JL Audio 10W0 150watts rms to be more specific. and the kool thing is that my box has perfect air volume for the sub.

if a tree falls down in a forest will it make a sound? i don't know, but the JL that brought it down will
12" box to 10" in a hour flat.
