need info on cap with light dimming

First off i must say i am new to installing a cap in my system and had never done it before. I used all 4ga. wiring and hooked the cap to distributor blocks for grond and power, then going to the amp. I always thought that caps were there to ease the voltage drop on the alt so the lights dont dim every time the base hits. I understand that increasing the power of the sub/amp will drain the battery but at what point do you know that you'll need a high current alt? Also was i suppose to use zero guage to the distibution blocks?

Any input would be appreciated.

Before you add a cap you should be doing the "big 3" under your hood and that should help you with any light dimming and should give you more voltage to your amps. How much power are you running? How many amps does your factory alternator push and how many amps does your amplfier draw? It's never a bad thing to run 0 gauge.
