Need Info On Sub
Hey guys I have this old school Pyle Driver subwoofer and I wanted to know the specs. of it cuz this was my dads woofer like way back in the 1990's and just wanted to hook it up in my car for now til i upgrade my system again. All i know is that its a 12". The reason why i want to know the specs. is because i need to know the right type of amplifier to get for it so please guys help me and god bless you.

Way back about 10 years ago those subs were made in the same factory as Pyramid stuff, just after Pyramid brands bought Pyle USA. Those woofers are pressed steel basket, single 4 ohm voice coil, 125 watt rms. with 250 peak, nitrile foam surround with pressed pulp paper cones. Came in purple, yellow and red. Origionally, they were sometimes sold in a hefty 2.1 cubic foot bandpass box with 2 woofers firing into the plexiglass front, sometimes had neon lighting, and weren't really dependant on the box as they were an infinite baffle design (free air) (total Q factor I believe of .58 at 4 ohm if that helps). Feed it around 125 to 150 watts rms, much more and the voice coil will cook. Not a great woofer, but puts a bit of bump in the trunk. Don't waste too much money on the box, was not intended for high power or great sound just inexpensive flea market woofers. If it were mine, I'd put it in a sealed 1.75 to 2 cu. ft box and play it till it pops.
If I'm not mistaken, a very similar sub from Pyle is still made called the Pyle Pro Plus series, only now they have a light blue surround but is virtually the same.
