Need Some Good 6.75" Speakers

I've been thinking about buying some 6.75" speakers. There might be a chance someone accidently put a hole in the dust cap of one of the speakers in there now.
I really don't want a 6.5" because I want one that'll fit in without having to customize it to make it fit without tons of rattles. Also all I've really ever owned have been full components but I'm willing to try something different. I see tons of speakers with the tweeter coming right out of the dust cap. How can these speakers still sound good with a huge hole in the middle of them? I've always stayed away from them because of that but if they truly still sound good I'll look into them.

Arch I looked through your online store but put up some links to what you'd recomand.

well chadwick i never really heard of that size before so ill just reccommend some brands that may make them. MB quart, eclipse, i cant really think right now but im sure someone will help u more than me...I think that a dust cap is just that a dust cap, its not going to effect the sound of the speaker unless well a lot of dust gets in it or it starts rattling. So basically speakers with tweeters in the middle just replace the dust cap and actually make the speaker sound better b/c of different highs and lows or w/e. i hope i helped out a bit if not than idk lol. peace

i can vouch for Polk components. ive heard them and let me tell you. Ive heard the Polk DB components and the Momo Components and they are really nice. Other than that, my Orions are really nice in the front, but they need to be amped. Also Inifinity or Eclipse. i know circuit city just dropped all Inifinity and switched to Eclipse.

just do a set of crossovers in the front and some nice coaxials in the back, then nice sub(s) and you will be set, especially with the sound deadening.

I should also add that these are for the rear panels so there's no need whatsoever for a tweeter since this is for the rear fill.

what do you mean the rear panels? the back seat or the trunk panels?

anything in the trunk will be watsed with your subwoofer setup.. honestly the best setup for our cars is a good set of components in the front doors and then a set of mid bass drivers in the back seat.. with a nice subwoofer combination in the hatch..

eclipse, MB quart, Alpine Type R are all good brands

let me know what you really have in mind man and ill help you set it up.. i did used to be a moderator on the car audio forum..

also ask arch and (i cant think of his name) the guy with the huge backseat woofer setup

I mean the rear quarter panels next to where the rear seats normally are. That's why I was saying I don't need a tweeter or mids back there at all since it's just the rear fill.

I've already disconnected the speakers in the hatch area.

umm.. why do you think you dont need tweeters (highs) or mids in the backseat? what do you want? the only thing left would be lows (bass drivers) which are just subwoofers essentially..

my car didnt come with any back seat speakers and with the addition of my RF coaxials in the back seat i was very impressed the difference was having those coaxial (tweeters and mid bass) speakers there made.. gives you more of an overall sound (almost surround) in a way over the stock 4 speaker system my car came with

I am going to go ahead and throw my two cents in here. I have to recommend Memphis. Not only because they sound amazing, but also because they make a speaker size specifically for GM cars with the oversize opening. I put them in a while ago and they fit literally perfectly. Refer to the thread I started about them some months ago.

You're exactly right, I meant to say I wanted mids. I don't need tweeters because they won't do any good since they are so directional. Sorry about that.

I just found this post by you...
