New Civic + Ipod through AUX jack - control through car or ipod?

New Civic + Ipod through AUX jack - control through car or ipod?
I just bought a new 2007 Civic Hybrid with an Aux jack so I can plug in my Ipod. I'm assuming I have to use a 3.5mm mini stereo plug to go from the Ipod headphone jack to the Aux jack on the stereo. Will I be able to control the music from my actual car stereo or do I have to do it on the ipod?
