Shallow Mount Sub

Hey guys, im starting a new audio project for a 2007 mazda 6 sport wagon and need some advice

I want to mount the sub infron of the tailights, I go to school in sudbury and always bring people home to toronto so truch space is important. I could build a fiberglass box for a 10" or 12" standard sub but then it would stick out and kinda look dumb. So i want a slim/shallow mount sub. Anyone with a truck have a sub they love, or done any research already? maybe the selective sound guys can chime in here? Im on a budget but since im just starting the project I can change the plans a bit. Would 2 10" subs be better than 1 shallow 12?

Here is an example of where i want to place the sub (just one side) but these are kinda big for my liking...
