it all depends on what subs you want to power as well what speakers in the car you need to power up as well. if the subs are too powerfull for your car speakers the system will sound like ***. its always better to get an amp that is a bit more powerfull, better safe than sorry.

hey bro, if ur using one 12 inch sub you need to use a 2 channel amp u go with a mono amp its not goin to put out the power ur looking for a mono amp is used for 2 or more subwoofers 2 channel is good for one sub so i suggest using that and to get max power out of ur speakers use a 4 channel amp and use 4 guage wiring and a cap

Find an amp that will put out the power you want into the impedance your sub will be showing. So if your sub can be wired for 4 ohms then get an amp that puts out full power into 4 ohms mono. If the subs has an impedance of 2 ohms then get an amp that puts out full power into 2 ohms mono. It isnt neccessary to get a mono amp , a bridgable 2ch amp may work for you just depends on the impedance of the subs you are using.

What tye of sub are you using? Whats is its impedance per coil?

Uhh... no, not at all.

A mono amp will be perfect for him. All that mono means is that it only puts out 1 channel of signal.

Since he only has 1 sub, he doesn't need any more. Hell, most subs only work in mono.
