Are this Speakers good?
I am looking in to getting new speakers and a 12 for my car. I was looking at the JBL GTO seires what do you know about them are they pretty good? I am pretty sure the sub will plug right into the back of my Alpine CD player? If I am wrong let me know.
Here's the 6x9's
6x9's
Here's the 4x6's
4x6's
And the 12
The 12
I am not looking to have my licence plate bolts rattled off I just want a little better sound quality from the blown front speakers and the who knows how old 6x9s. the reason I am looking at JBL is becasue my dad has two 15's in our house that are 25 years old and are still working great and they are overkill they rattle windows if you turn them up.

Also has anyone seen instructions on building a sub box I only want one sub I dont need two and I would like to keep my rear hatch area clear I was thinking of making a custom box to go in teh spare tire area? (yes I know thats is where the NOS bottle goes) Do you think this would work?

jbl makes great speakers (they invented them by the way, plus own infinity) if it's not a powered sub it won't plug into the head, are there better sure , but those are good speakers, and buying new is the best advice I can give(always figure ebay is used) I also say do a 6 1/2 component set instead of 6x9

So I should get the plate for the 6x9 and reduce it to a 6 1/2?? I think that is what you are saying that is no problem I talked to a guy at my work who knows a lot about that stuff and he said if i plug a sub in teh back of my cd player it will burn it up cuse so much stuff is running off it. so I may just get a good set of speakers and leave it at that.

subs wont plug into the back of your cd player.. i mean you could wire them like that.. but that would be rediculous and stupid. you will only be getting like 20 watts rms to the sub there would be no point in having it.. you need to have it amped.. and then run the rcas from the cd player to the amp.. the only way you are going toget great sound quality with any bass at all is to have a sub.. mids and highs (mid bass speakers and tweeters) are designed to play mid and high frequency only and if you try to puch bass through them they will blow just like your current setup no matter how good the speaker..

So something like this is what project camaro was talking about right?

this is about as good as you can get without getting a amp and subs right? and I can wire it into my cd also?
