Sub + Amp Question

Im not too experienced when it comes to sound systems, I've put my own CD player in, done basic wiring, and replaced the stock speakers with new ones thats about it, so please bare with me on this one lol. When it comes to buying subs I understand theirs an OHM difference, being 2 OHM or 4 OHM ect. I plan to get 2 12"s. I was wondering if anyone has any comparisons on what type of amp I would look for depending on the subs I get (such as Watt of subs and watt of amp, OHM of subs and OHM of amp. I'm in highschool and only have a part time job so I was hoping I would be able to do an installation myself. Thanks for the help in advance, hopefully I can learn something lol.

If looking at 2 2 twelves assuming 4-ohm, you would want to go with either a stereo amp (2 channel) or a mono amp that is 2-ohm stable. Since - $ ohm drives connected in parallel create a 2ohn load, there are a lot of such amps these days, wiring the amp is not to difficult, you need a postive and negative (ground) from the battery, a remote turn on lead (ignition wire to turn on the amp.) usually one on the deck if aftermarket. Then RCA;s for the audio signal from deck.
Some reccomened brands which range in price that are decent inlcude
MTX
Rockford
JL audio
Phoenix Gold
JBL
plus many more...

^^^^^^^ xactly wat he said

unless your going competition look for stability.

2 twelves:
1 -MONO (single) channel amplifer that is 2-ohm stable (usually like 1200W max, 600rms depending on power)

Then u bridge the amp by running the wires in parellel connection.

if u need any help let me kno il help u hook eveythin up/hook u up on parts

One very quick way to get what you want. Buy a dedicated mono subwoofer amp (1 channel). Most, if not all of these type of amps are special "digital" amps which can handle the demands of lower Ohm loads such as 2 ohm or 1 ohm. They are not capable of producing stereo, do not contain the circuitry, and are designed for 1 purpose.....subs and more subs. They usually only produce a very narrow range of sound (usually under 400khz), always contain some type of crossover to filter out unwanted higher frequencies, and some contain subsonic filters to stop you from producing the very lowest octaves of bass which can't be heard anyway, which many quality ported subs can produce.

Rockford Fosgate® - Woofer WiringWizard

try this

dual voice coil subs are better
and always try to match rms of amp to rms of subs.
the most important thing to get the nice sound is to do a perfect match
spend time doing research.good luck
