Thinking of Memphis? Check this out.

I've been doing alot of research on some new speakers for my Z28. I finally decided on a pair of Memphis 6 1/2's. I wanted everyone to know about how well they fit into the rear spots for speakers. They fit like a glove!! It was like they were meant specifically to fit in Camaro's. Maybe one of the reasons they fit so well is because I went with the "Oversized" version meant for GM vehicles. Next I will be ordering a set of Memphis component speakers for the front. Anyone looking for a new set of good sounding speakers....look at Memphis. Here are some pics:

Nice but IMO components would have been a better choice

The reason I went with these is because I was told that a combination of components and a Mid/High range would sound better and cover a wider variety of sound over a component/component combo.

the best setup for a 4th gen is supposed to be components up front in the doors.. mid-bass drivers (not co-axial mid/highs) in the back seat and a sub setup in the back.. this is the way my car was designed i know because when i installed my mid/high co-axial rockford fosgate 2004 platinum series 6 1/2's in the back seat of mine i had to use the wiring that was originally meant for the two small speakers on the side of the trunk panels to get it to play mid and high.. the oringial back seat wiring will only run mid-bass not high...

I have done both in back, and it's a pure personal thing (I tend to install components in teh rear and put a resistor on the tweet to lower it's output a couple of db's)

Yeah...that's why I am not using ANY original wiring. All new wiring going to amps in the back.

havent thought about doing that arch.. def a possibility.. but im broke right now.. and cant even afford to replace the door speakers with components yet so.. that plus im not even sure what setup my car came with originally but i just cant make myself spend the money on new door speakers.. the ones i got sound incredible with the rest of the setup, not that it couldnt get better but damn.. its hard to spend $250 on a good set of components with how good it sounds now.. and im not some nobody in the sound field that doesnt know anything about SQL.. you know this arch..

it's funny listening to people talk about how to do a system, your the one who's listening (a top scoring sq car sounds like hammered dog ****, which is why most competitors who drive their cars have 2 eq settings)

o i guess i phrased that wrong.. i wasnt meaning actual SQL levels for competition.. ive heard a couple competitions and your right it def doesnt sound like what youd expect.. i was just referring to acoustics of the sound in your and how well it sounds

no accounting for taste (or lack thereof) I hear people say they love the sound of the stock system in their cars, and all I hear is distortion

mine is far from stock, all that is left that is stock are the door speakers, and yes i love the sound im getting right now.. that was my point.. very little distortion if any..

ive found that alot of distortion comes from bad cd burners.. alot of the burners are burning very low quality sound to decrease burn times.. i try to burn all of my audio cd's at 2x instead of the typical full blown 48x most are running now.. you just loose so much quality its horrible

agreed, you already lose a little from the burning (on a great system that costs more than your car and house you can hear it, on a normal one it's not as noticable)
