What's A Good Sub For My Amp?
i have the alpine mrp m450. The first subs i had were shitty legacy subs i got which blew on me. i was wondering if you guys would tell me what kinda subs i should get which will produce good quality sound and wont blow. im looking for probably just 1 12" sub. here are my amps spec
Details:
» mono subwoofer car amplifier
» 220 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)
» variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz, 24 dB/octave)
» tuned Bass EQ (0-12 dB bass boost at 50 Hz)
» subsonic filter (15 Hz, 24 dB/octave)
» MOSFET power supply
» CEA-2006 compliant
» STAR Topology (minimizes internal noise and prevents ground interference)
» speaker- and preamp-level inputs
» gold-plated screw terminals
» fuse rating: 20A x 2
» 8-gauge power and ground leads recommended — wiring and hardware

If you were up in the air about choosing a sub between a Alpine or Kicker CVR. My vote would be with Jordy O on this one. The CVR all the way. IMO the kicker products have always out lasted the Alpine subs. And there are lots of subs that can be had for under $100.

I agree about the Kicker Comp VR much better driver IMO. yes the alpine sub is 500 RMS, but I mean if everyone looked at power-rating for price........wouldn't everyone be running audiobhan subs? I mean they boast quite the RMS ratings for even their entry level subwoofers. Having worked at a shop who carried audiobhan for a little bit, the subs are designed very week and generally can't take what their rated for.
my opinion from working with both speakers in comparison. The Kicker has better overall response to my ears than the alpine, and was able to reproduce lower freqencies without botteming out.
if you wanted to go with the Kicker sub either look for a CompVR in a single 4 ohm voice coil or dual 2 ohm configuration to get max performance out of your amplifier.

your right, i misread that in his original post. You need either a single 2 ohm sub which I doubt they make in the CVR. Or as listed in the previous post. Dual 4 ohm to get max out of your amp (2ohm mono 400 RMS)
