FS: MTX Thunder 1501D Amplifier

Well, I never thought I'd be selling this amazing amp, but here it finally is ... my pride and joy, and the grand daddy of MTX amps and <2000w Class D amps in general! I am selling it, because I am getting a smaller amp and sub combination. Seriously, this thing pulled such high dBs with all the subs I used it on that I have lost a majority of my hearing in the past year or two.

Here are the specs (including what I run it at daily):

RMS Power @ 12.5v:
- 500w x 1 @ 4 ohms
- 1000w x 1 @ 2 ohms
- 1500w x 1 @ 1 ohms

RMS Power @ 14.4v:

- 750w x 1 @ 4 ohms
- 1500w x 1 @ 2 ohms
- 1900w x 1 @ 1 ohms

Here are the CarReview reviews:

Here is MTX's own product description:

"This amplifier is the one with the most teeth. It's got it all. Adaptive Class D Technology, for high power in a small package. Anyone can make a high power amplifier in a big package. But it takes smarts and careful engineering to produce big power in a small footprint. Adaptive Class D Technology is how we make this amplifier so efficient at producing power. The crossover is low pass, variable from 40Hz to 200Hz. And, we've even built in our compression circuit, to protect your woofers at high SPL levels. Add in the EBC2 and the Thunder EQ and this is one amp to be feared."

Here is my price: $550 OBO. I am willing to negotiate, but I mainly want to find a good home for this great amp. No reasonable offer will be refused.

And finally, here are my comments:

I benched it at 1620w RMS @ 2 ohms with no heatsink modifications. This thing is seriously underrated. To get it it to pull out those 1 ohm figures above, all you gotta do is take it to SS Electronics here in the GTA (they specialize in MTX products) and get them to do a heatsink modification for you. It is actually really cheap and you will have a 2000w RMS @ 1 ohm stable amp with around 150A of current draw. How many people can accomplish that in their Class D setups? I hope the right person picks this up and puts it to good use!
