Bulb removal in rear-view mirror

I was just wondering as to how to remove the stock bulbs out of the rear view mirror in order to install new bulbs? How easy is it to get to these bulbs?

Thanks!

a hammer seems pretty harsh to use.

The clear lense covers underneath should come off to access the bulb.

Okay...I replaced the bulbs today with LED bulbs but when I put the covers back on the lights weren't coming on. I removed the clear lens again and touched the bulb and it came back on. Why are they so touchy? The new LED bulbs I installed are the exact same size and style as the stock bulbs that were in before. Any one else experience this problem?

the led replacement bulbs are garbage on a good day, they are made in china with the worst tolerances ever, make your own for less money, and get better quality
