Hardwiring...
#2
It's really easy. Just cut the 12v cig lighter plug off of the end, mount the radar detector where you want it, run the cables along to hide it (under dash mat, or along the headliner depending on if it's on the dash or up by the mirror respectively) then run it to the fusebox on the driver's side. Seperate the two wires that you'll have in the cord, one's power and one's ground. Connect the ground to one of the ground locations under the knee bolster on the driver's side, and connect the 12v power wire to your 12v radio fuse (for my 94 v6 it's on the top left fuse) tada radar starts with the car

Yeah. If you wire the power through your radio fuse, it literally will only receive power when your radio has power. So, when you turn the car off the radar will stay on until you open the door, just like the radio.

maybe yours is messed up... because since i have that stereo problem, somtimes mine does what you say... when i shut the car of, the radio goes off... but its supposed to be a closed circuit until you open the door.

yeah it called rap ( retained acessory power ) it lasts 10 mins until u open the door, i guess yours is not working properly check to see if your car is equipped if so then check your door switches ( the ones that make your interior courtesy lights come on ) good luck
