Leather Interior Panel Kit... Any Interest??
I was thinking of putting a leather interior panel kit together for the 97-02 F-Body. The main reason you would want to do this is because the plastic panels really cheapen the feel of the interior. If you notice, most expensive sport or luxury cars cover the interior panels in material.
Now it wouldn't be real leather but a high quality automotive imitation and only one color: Ebony (black). The material would be pre-cut to fit each panel, come with detailed instructions, 1qt of high quality Contact Adhesive, Brushes, and Sand Paper. All you would need is a razor & heat gun (hair dryer). I still have to finalize all the panels that it would cover but basically it would cover all the hard plastic interior pieces excluding the dash. Looks like the price would be $200-$250 a kit. I'm not 100% positive on the price yet as I still need to make the kits but that's the price range it's looking like as of now. I'm for sure going to cover the panels in my Camaro but if there is enough interest I'll put together a kit for you guys too :) So let me know what your thoughts are and please vote if interested! Below are some pictures of the material I will be using and the last picture shows the material laying next to the stock '01-'02 Ebony (black) seats: http://specializedstainless.com/photos/Material1.jpg http://specializedstainless.com/photos/Material3.jpg http://specializedstainless.com/photos/Material2.jpg |
Steve I think I'm going to have to ask you to leave. You keep coming in with things I want for my car and you're taking all my money. LOL
Needless to say I'm intrested. |
That sounds like a really good idea. If I had a 97+ I would be all over that.

Yes that is a good Idear I allways thought it would of been better with some sort of cloth over it. I'm not modding my car right now its been in hibernation for quite awhile. Maybe when I get back to the mods I will hit you up for it.

Here's the drivers side trunk panels wrapped in the leather. It came out great, and was easier than I thought it would be. It did take longer than I thought though... Now I've gotta let it sit for 72hrs then in the car it goes! Hopefully I can finish the rest of the pieces within a week :)

Very impressive, wrapping the entire interior with this should really bring the quality of it up.

what adhesive are you using? I've been thinking of doing this in my 3rdgen for about 3 years now, but I've been hesitant because I'm not confident in adhesive. Especially when it gets warm out and the sun is beating on it. The panel you did looks great.

Here's some pics of the passenger side trunk panel I just finished. It takes about 45-60mins a panel to cover... Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to get started on the rear sail panels :)
BTW, I had a square section cut out of the bottom of my panel to begin with, that's why there's a loose looking area there ;) Attachment 155992 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/P1020914.jpg |
looks absolutley amazing on the wrap job :)

Here's the passenger side sail panel. This one took about 2x longer than the others did because it's so large and curvaceous but came out really nice :) The sail panels' are definitely the toughest part of the job. The only trouble area is the bottom part that is covered by the rear seats, so it doesn't matter. BTW, my speaker grill is painted that's why it's so glossy.

Thanks |
looks great, really looks like it would make the whole interrior look much more expensive usually the plastic panels always look pretty cheap.

Steve just let me know when it's ready to sell and I'll get mine. I have been wanting to do this to my car for a couple years now.

Here's the Drivers side door accessory panel. When I originally bought my Camaro it had a lot of the panels painted gloss black. I really didn't like how it looked so I swapped the painted panels out with stock ebony ones. I just found the painted ones in my garage today so I figured I'd try to cover them in the leather, and what do you know, it worked great :) The second picture shows the passenger side painted panel next to the drivers side leather wrapped panel.
After I get all the panels that will be available to the public made, I will add them for purchase here: http://store.specializedstainless.com Until then, keep checking this thread for updates! Thank you Attachment 155969 Attachment 155970 |
It's really coming together well. I can only imagine how good the entire will look once everything's done.
