im a motoxer myself and i know for a fact you should never paint your plastics i had a yz125 painted the gas tank and the paint chipped due to the gas actually impregnanting the plastic..if your going to paint it us kyrlon plastic paint and a hitemp clear..let it sit for a couple days before you put gas init..and sand and sand and sand it before you paint it..you might wanna consider a kylon primer and sand the tank rough first with like 200grit..and then prime it and then wet sand it with 600wet and then paint it with the kylon and then wet sand it agian not to much tho "all depends how many coats you use" then you would wanna clear it with a hitemp engine paint so if u spill gas the paint wont run..i hope this helps and questions just pm me
