i scratched my bumper on a curb while reversingits a white 2007 honda civici have no idea what to do.should i take it to a body shop for repairshould i get the whole bumper replaceits a pretty deep scratch so i dont know think i could do one of those do it yourself things.

Just call a paint wizard out they do a good quick job not too expensive. they will fix it and blend the paint in.

A scratch on a bumper, while unsightly, is not something that will affect the safety and function of the car, so you have time to mull things over to decide what is best to do. If you just can't stand seeing that scratch on your new car, go to a body shop (a reputable one...ask around) and ask for an estimate. It may be low enough that you would not even meet the deductible on your insurance and will therefore need to pay for it out of your own pocket. If it is more than your deductible, then you need to decide if it is worth it to report it to your insurance. Every time you make a claim on insurance, you risk 1. higher rates or 2. cancellation. I doubt very seriously if any repair shop is going to tell you to replace the whole bumper for a scratch, and I doubt even more that your insurance would pay for a whole bumper replacement. Whatever, I definitely would not try to repair it myself. You may be more talented at that than I am, but I can assure you it would look worse than it did, if I tried to fix it.

i may not have all the answers to your questions,BUT don't have the front bumper replaced because of a deep scratch in it. i understand your concern for not trying to do it yourself, but try to repair it yourself, if you don't like the way it comes out, then take it to a shop, like MACO? buy a repair KIT. a quart size is way to much but i don't think those kits come any smaller than that. it's called BONDO i believe. you get most everything you need in the kit to do the job, except for the paint which you can get at most any auto parts store. it comes with instruction come with it.you also buy the kit at any good auto parts store.talk to the salesperson at the store and tell him/her what you're trying to do.

They will most likely replace the bumper...The big question is do you want to get your insurance rates raised or not? (How high is your deductible?)If the scratch is not discolored in any way I would just live with it for now. If it IS discolored you can you use a Clear Coat Safe polish and buff out the discoloration by hand. The scratch will still be there but it won't be as visible. I am no paint and body man but there might also be a cheaper alternative like some sort of plastic epoxy filler...I checked a few sites on line and the replacement part is about 200.00 and that does not include paint. You might be able to get that bumper done for less than 700 bucks...
