Removing factory gfx

So has anyone ever removed the front peice of a 93-97 RS package gfx? The rest of it looks pretty easy, but the front seems to be shallow rivets and such..

Any advice on getting it off while making it look decent would be appreciated.

Im just tired of having a half broken front body kit, scraping everywhere, and not to mention I want to see what it looks like without it, with the hood that I have.

Comments?

From what I have heard its not a good idea unless you are gonna get the car repainted.. I heard that it leaves holes all over that you would have to get filled in..

Well, what I might do, is wait and have them taken off when I take the car to get the hood painted, and let him fix that himself.

dont rip it off using force you will damage the kit, thats why when i went to get mine on i had to have kit repaired first ....which might be a big deal if you are looking to sell it.

I guess Im confused on the question... what trouble are you having? Its just screws that come off with some double sided tape... Youll need an offset rachet or a great angle from a screwdriver.

Some of them are held on w/plastic rivets instead of screws.

Yeah, if you're selling it I wouldn't even worry about it. I definitely wouldn't take off just the front piece though!! The one's I've seen that are missing only the front piece look rediculous IMO. It's the reason I haven't driven my Z28 since I bought the Vette. I had to remove the front piece on mine just to get it up on the trailer when I moved, and with it being so cold lately, I haven't got around to putting it back on yet. I'll post a few pics of what it looks like in a minute.

No no, you misunderstand what I meant Str8, I was just asking for help removing that peice, the rest is rather easy. I would definately remove all of it at one time.

But as I said I think im gonna take it to my local body shop and get them to fix it up when I get my hood painted.

That's the only way to really do it. All the holes will stand out way to much, espically on a car that has as much done to it as yours.

Oh, my bad......I guess I didn't read it slow enough. Yeah I agree with you about just letting the shop do it!

On the front piece:........ it was because of both reasons. I had to remove it in order to pull it up on the trailer, then because of how my road and driveway meet, it's shaped sort of like a shallow V. I've since bought a few 10 foot long 2 x 10's and layed them out in the bottom of that dip making it possible to enter and exit without scraping.

Now it's just because it's so friggin cold out that......1) if I'm out in that cold weather for more than about 5 minutes, my Arthritis limits my ability to move.
And.....2) the double back tape doesn't stick worth a ***** unless it's about 70 degrees. I guess I should probably just go buy a portable heater for the garage and kill two birds with one hunned & fity dollas.
