Sanding question

OK, on a panel like the front bumper or rear berger (the plastic like stuff) should I wet sand or dry sand? I have 1000 and 2000 grit paper, should I start with 1000 then go to 2000?

depends what your wanting to do.If prepping for paint use 800 max or a red scotch brite pad dry.If for polish 1000 wet followed by 2000 wet.1000 is too fine for paint to stick
