Just please please COVER YOUR CAR!! Nobody says to do this. And I found that out the hard way. Buy a car cover and cut the roof out and tape around to seal. Had I known this, I wouldn't have rusted peices inbedded in my paint. And be carefull of the windsheild weatherstripping. Don't take the metal strips off and just cut them to the right length. And when removing the roof from the front weatherstripping, be carefull as well. If you don't, you'll end up with the same problems as I did . Email me if you need any help.

I had the issue with the weatherstrip as well. All I did was buy the weatherstrip adheasive and reinstall. No damage done. As far as the damage to the paint, What the heck did you use to cut the sides? I used a sawzall and fine metal tooth blades. I didn't have any damage. One thing you didn't do or maybe you did, that i suggest is leave the headliner in while making the cut along the b pilliar. That will keep the junk out of the interior. Looks like you did a good job though. Did you finish the channels and bodywork? Man, wait till spring when you can open them up and cruise. Bet you hardly will have them on.

the paint thing wouldn't be a problem for me anyway, as the car would be painted afterwards. I'd really like to do this, but I want to do it before paint, and since everyone seems to agree on the candy paint, I'm gonna bet I won't have enough money to do it. But i'd need to find a place that had a good deal on all the parts I'd need. If I could get it cheap enough, then it wouldn't be so bad. We have to go up next week and get the definite price on the paint job, so we'll see then, I guess.

Ebay is where I got all my parts. I probably paid about $300 for everything. But I couldn't get it all as one set. Which is why in one pic I have a box of left overs.

Well my weatherstripping is not only coming off, but cracking and breaking. Weird.

As for the metal, I used an angle grinder with a metal cut off blade for trimming and sanding the ruff metal pieces . And a Dremmel for the tight areas. Worked great, minus the damage to the paint and seat covers.

I tried the headliner trick, but it just got in the way. So I just took it out.

I did everything but paint the channels. I'm waiting for a nice warm day to do that.

I also seem to be missing the front t-top peices of weather stripping that you have in your pics with the t-tops off. I can't find those on ebay. Know what the part number is?

Well the nice thing about being in Florida is that it doesn't get very cold here . So in the afternoon I take the tops off, but only if I'm driving around town and that I'm going to be out for a while. I just hate leaving the car there with the tops off, when I go shopping or out to eat.

It's nice to have t-tops again!! My last car had them. A 87 Pulsar XL. Which I finally tradded in in 99. It was on it's last leg and I hated to see her go. It was like driving a crotch rocket it was such a small car. And fast as hell, even though it was leaking all over the place .

That part is autozone special. I took weatherstrip and cut the circle part off the top.

Also, the strip going up the side of the widshield is different on a t top car. Look at a car with one or maybe someone can post a close up picture. I will be getting these this spring.
