Taillight Question

I'm new to the site. So first I just wanted to say hi. Second, and I'm sure this question has been asked before (I've searched all over for the answer), is there a difference between the taillights on like a 93 Camaro and a 00 Camaro.

Basically, I have a 2000 Camaro, and I bought new taillights. Here. Now, they were shipped to my house yesterday, and I tried to install them. First thing that I noticed is that the harness that holds the light bulbs has little notches sticking out which fit into the back of the taillight. Well, the grooves that they are supposed to fit in are in the wrong spot. Second, I was thinking that if I could just get them in I'd deal with it, but the whole taillight itself will not fit in the place of the old taillight.

So, I was just wondering, could it be that since this item from ebay is supposed to fit a 93-02, I recieved a taillight for 93-96 instead of 97-02?

The taillights themselves are the same housing. So the ones you bought off eBay should fit in, if they don't it's a bad design or you just recieved a faulty pair. Other than that the only difference between the '93-'96 and the '97-'02 taillights is that the later ones have a yellow turn signal. Because of the turn signal the wiring harness is slightly different as well.
I'd contact the seller and let them know the lamps they sent you are faulty personally.

Oh and welcome to ProjectCamaro.com, I hope you stay and have fun with us.

yeah, I sent an email, but al I got was an auto responce. He states on the ebay that he doesn't check his email on the weekends, so I'm going to give him a few days then I'm gonna' have to get on his behind about this.

Bad part is, this is the second pair that I've bought off of Ebay that don't work. The first pair fit flawlessly, but they started leaking 3 days after I installed them. Oh well, I guess I shouldn't be cheap and starting buying elsewhere then ebay.

That's just how's it's going to be with altezza's. It's going to be harder to find a pair that fits right than finding one that doesn't.

I can get you these (only 1 pair available currently)
EUROLITE 065920CF Tail Lamps (Chevrolet Camaro 93-02 in Carbon Fiber)
they'd be $199.95 plus shipping
also have them in chrome for $10 less again just one pair available.

I had a pair that looked exactly like that, but they were chrome color instead. They ended up leaking after I had them installed for 3 days. But I really like how the ones look that just bought, the only problem is they don't fit. Am I just screwed, saying that the altezza's are just going to be that way, or is it that these are for an older model camaro? I have pictures of the back of the stock taillight and the new ones that I ordered, I can post them later, but I'm at work right now, so I don't have access to my pics.

those taillights are for your model, like it said 93-02. I believe those are the same ones Chris and Paarman have, and they both had major fitment issues, from what they said. Maybe they'll be able to help you with how they got theirs to fit.

As a owner of Altezas, let me give you some advice.

For one thing, mine didn't fit at all when I got them. They don't fit in the light housing areas and the bulbs don't fit either. I had to dremmel both my bumper (or that fiberglass piece that goes between the lights above the bumper and says "CAMARO") and the light housing to get it to all fit right. I still have a pain in the *** time getting the bulbs out. I even cracked the plastic getting them in one time. I'm not saying yours will be like this, but my experience with them is they'er more trouble than they'er worth. After doing the "Berger Panel", I'm thinking of switching over to the 95-97 factory ones. Esp. since nobody on these boards likes Altezas in the first place .

hah.. well, first i had to modify the holes that the bulbs fit in... i had to make them turn a different way because the housing of the bulb was preventing the light from fitting.. then when it came time to put the lights in, i had to push... not hard enough to break them, but hard enough to seal them in securely without bending wires or breaking anything. Just be careful, and get those suckers in there lol... Ill be honest, it was a pain in the *** to do, and I will never buy anything japanese for my car again lol

Ok, I actually tried to get them in there before I read this post, and that is exactly the same thing that I did. My question is, if they were made for a Camaro, why didn't they get the little studs that go into the trunk in the right place?? I mean, they were just a little bit closer together compared to the factory taillights. That's just dumb.
