Adric 04-14-2007 08:18 PM

Is that the same color as mine, but with a diff name? Anyway I swear you told me u were paiting it black oneday then another hugger orange or something haha. Anyway nice choice.. and if you paint yer headlight buckets yer body color I will personally come down there and destroy your car.

haha thanks guys. I changed my mind like 100 times on what color i was painting it. anyways...i did get a chance to spray my side ground effects tonight. picked up a better gun with the air regulator at the gun so it would turn out better today and be more accurate also. i have it in the pictures. first i sealed the primer, waited for it to dry and sprayed the paint on. i didn't follow directions so it might now turn out as good. i mixed it and everything but i missed the step that said put a light tack coat on and then 2 medium coats. i just saw the 2 medium coat part until i went back later and saw it. oh well. i might re do them. this was really just to see what the color looked like anyways. i probly will paint the headlight buckets black, adric. http://adweek.blogs.com/photos/uncat...mini_boobs.jpg haha how bout that for my front end? j/k j/k
enjoy

ITSA6 04-15-2007 12:57 AM

that is gonna be awesome when your done but take your time and do it right the first time and smart idea to try it on something small first

blue89vert 04-15-2007 12:59 AM

yeah i woulda been pissed if i did on my car what i did on the bottom of one of my gfx. i forgot to do the fan adjustment and it was really straight forward instead of like spraying vertically a lot. idk how to explain it but it sprayed way too much paint in one spot and there were runs all over. i know im gonna get impatient and want to spray my car asap but im gonna try my best to do it right and take my time.

V6Cam 04-15-2007 01:02 AM

blue89vert 04-15-2007 01:11 AM

96camaro 04-15-2007 03:10 PM

Looks good.

blue89vert 04-15-2007 04:58 PM

anybody know how long i have to wait to wet sand?

ITSA6 04-15-2007 09:50 PM

read the instructions? ya got me there but it looks good

blue89vert 04-15-2007 09:52 PM

haha yes there are instructions on the gallon of paint. thanks

paarman97maro 04-15-2007 10:13 PM

I dunno.. I think you should clear it, but thats just me. Youre going to get chips and **** in there like crazy.

blue89vert 04-15-2007 10:17 PM

ill think about it. but thats what this paint was made for...one stage means one stage. my friend said if it needed clear coat the paint would look really dull. he said at his work the paint they use when they spray it it looks like faded and stuff and then when the clear is sprayed thats what gives it the shininess. i think it will be fine. what do you think of the color?

ITSA6 04-15-2007 10:34 PM

color is amazing nice choice

paarman97maro 04-15-2007 10:42 PM

id like to see it on the body first... but i dunno how clear would make it more dull... Its going to look more shiney than anything... Id care more about it protecting the paint than anything... you can take out scratches and chips much easier in a clear coat than you can the paint.

blue89vert 04-15-2007 10:45 PM

i think i typed that wrong. or you read it wrong idk lol. i didn't mean that clear coat would make it duller just wouldn't do anything really. ill consider it though...

Mike Jones 04-15-2007 10:48 PM

From the pictures you've posted I think the color is going to look good. I'm with Paar in that I'd clear it, it can't hurt to have the extra protection there.

blue89vert 04-15-2007 11:02 PM

im gonna talk to a few people at highland auto body and see what they say. the only thing is that clear coat is a ***** to spray. its the hardest spraying part in a paint job. i would probly have runs and fish eyes and **** so it wouldn't be worth having a ****** paint job. but i will talk to some poeple

paarman97maro 04-15-2007 11:21 PM

you wont have runs if you do it right... runs are from spraying too heavy of a coat, or too close. Just back off a bit and do very light coats. When I paint ****, clearing it should look like overspray the first couple coats. Buy the 3rd, it looks like a nice clear coat. Just my .02.

blue89vert 04-16-2007 11:32 PM

okay thanks for the suggestion paar. today i did my door jambs, underside of the trunk lid, edging by taillights and around trunk, spoiler pieces, tonneau cover and i think thats it lol pretty sweet for 6 1/2 hours

korndogg 04-17-2007 11:28 PM

How much do you want to do my car....body work and paint??

paarman97maro 04-18-2007 12:01 AM

damn, i will give it to you gray... you have balls paiting your car. ****, Im afraid to screw up plastic models.

ps, your avatar makes me giggle inside mark.. lmao.

Mike Jones 04-18-2007 12:07 AM

I'm really excited to see your car when it's done.

ITSA6 04-18-2007 12:10 AM

5 stacks should be good. :lolsign: no really though ill do it for like 500 if you buy the materials...depending on how much body work it needs but i dont think yours needs any hahaha its perfect.
anyways. thanks a lot guys i appreciate the compliments. car should be and i repeat SHOULD be done this weekend. turns out the paint isn't gonna turn out as perfect as i wanted it.... its metallic so i cant wetsand it and i cant clear it b/c u have to wetsand it before you clear it. :banghead: oh well. i got my hood, trunklid, and quarters done today and they look pretty darn good.
and no this will not be my daily driver although it will be driven

sman 04-19-2007 07:38 AM

Pictures, I want to see the hood, get a better idea of what the color looks like.

blue89vert 04-19-2007 11:22 PM

haha no more pics until its done 100%. i sprayed the quarter panels and the hood and around the windshield yesterday...it looked okay in the garage but when i took it out in the sun me and my friends were like dayyummmmm. it looks so sweet with the sun on it. found out i wasn't doing thick enough coats so ima redo my spoiler and gfx. everything else turned out pretty sweet.
