FS: 1989 Mustang Coupe 2.3L Turbo $2000

Work and external issues are preventing me from my completion of my 2.3L turbo project. I have completed over 85% of the work needed to finish. Not much is left for the car to be finished. I have all parts needed to complete.
$2000.00 is the asking price. The shell itself is worth that alone...

Regretfully I have to part ways with it at this time.

Engine was refreshed, has a total of 169,000 kms on it.

IHI5RHB oil and water cooled turbo in excellent shape, zero play in the shaft. Impeller blades are perfect. Turbo manifold is in excellent shape, no cracks or warpage issues.

Engine received total detailing. New gaskets, seals, waterpump, timing belt, tensioner pulley, Oil pan cleaned, and any and all possible leaks were brazed shut and thin area re-inforced. New distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, pcv valve, breathers. All drive belts changed. Rebuilt 85 amp alternator.Always synthetic oil was used. Was running well when removed from donor car.

Vanne meter is calibrated and working 100%

MSD5 ignition with Mallory High Energy Coil.

LA2 ECU

C4 transmission. Freshly rebuilt with only 85,000 kms on the transmission total.

Rare C4 2.3 bellhousing mated.

B&M Rachet shifter.

Trac-Lock rear with 3.08 gearing (engine will turn 2700 rpm at 120 kmh)

Turbocoupe rear end installed with REBUILT calipers, fresh pads and good rotors.

Turbocoupe front spindles with new 11" discs, new 73mm piston calipers, new 1" bore master cylinder installed. New adjustable brake proportioning valve installed.

New Ranger radiator (thicker core) Not installed.

New exhaust (not hung on car yet) consisting of Turbocoupe downpipe, New catalytic convertor (high flow) to new rear tail pipes.

Larger Mitsubishi FMIC.

AC was installed in car. Have new receiver dryer and other hoses to replace older supply hose on AC. Compressor is good. Condensor is good, but should be replaced with one from Ranger. With the new hoses and dryer installed, you should be able to refill it and has ice cold working ac again.

Car is lowered 2 inches front, 1.75 rear on NEW Canuck Motorsport springs.New Ball joints, New struts and shocks (OEM Cobra items). Rims are 16" turbocoupe alloys with good rubber on them (over 70% tread or better).

Interior is in very good clean shape - no missing trim. Turbocoupe seats (with adjustable lumbar suports).

Body is in very very good shape. Paint will have to be watersanded, negligible minimal rust, if any is on the chassis.Only saw winter driving once. Otherwise garage or Barn kept. Zero rot for sure. Rare Dech body package installed.

To be restored to driveability status the following work has to be done.

Transmission mount and drive shaft have to be re-installed.

Brakes have to bled.

Radiator and FMIC have to be installed.

B&M Shifter to be installed.

Vanne installed and make the 4 wire changes to the existing harness. ECU swapped.

Battery installed. ( I have a questionable spare, if it holds a charge, your golden!)

I have extra parts to go along with the car:

Transgo Shift kits

C4 Rebuild kit

Quick ratio steering rack from Turbocoupe

New Outer Tie Rod ends

New Poly offset rack mounts

Stock Turbocoupe Springs

When completed, this car with it's current state of tune, 15 psi of boost, will easily push 200 hp, 280+ft/lbs Torque. Plus get 30mpg to boot. Considering the price of fuel today that is indeed a bargain. Why go 5.0, when a small increase in boost with give you same or more than stock 5.0 power, but not with it's thirst.

Handling is also improved as the engine sits further back towards the firewall, weighs considerably less than a 5.0 equipped Mustang. Insurance is also cheaper as this is still a 2.3L car.

Car is located in Brampton.

I hear ya. But the T5 was plagued with the weak 3rd gear syncro. Boosting with the light C4 means you are always making boost. It's the least parasitic of all the auto trans Ford produced. That's why the C4 is in use in drag strips. Strong and dependable.
