FS: 1997 accord, 4 door coupe

Hey all. FOR THE SMART ASSES, SEDAN.. ITS A SEDAN.. I just can't edit the title.

OK, well heres the deal.. I have 2 cars.. The protege5 for sale on this board and this 97 honda accord.

I only need one, and if the protege doesn't sell, then i will get rid of this one.

97 Honda accord
4 Door
5-speed
Bone stock.

Silver-beige in colour. Beige interior
Brand new tires on it, downside is they are winter tires.

The person who owned this before i knew very well, and he put A LOT of kms on the car because his job consited of driving all over ontario. He is an older guy, not driven hard at all.
WELL MAINTAINED...Accident free. Does not leak anything, and does not burn any oil. ALL HWY kms,. 340k

Don't let it scare you, the car at the present time is certified and etested. They are legit. Car is in great shape.

Downside is a little bit of rust on the front of the hood and starting to rust a bit on passenger rear door. Thats it.. no rust anywhere else on the car.

BRAND NEW windshield put in (which was all required for safety), new wipers, cruise, abs, tilt, all the fun toys, power mirrors, power windows.

Car drives great. Heres the pitch. Being sold privately, only one tax. Now the used vehicle package says its still worth 6250. Thats a crap load of tax you would have to pay, so I have already gone ahead and called an appraiser whome is a connection, and al though its worth more then this, she put it down for 500 bucks so only $40 tax will need to be paid to transfer into your name.

Sorry for long thread, wanted to give all the info i could. About price, well i would like some offers.. because i really want to sell my other car and keep this one.

So cert + etested = $3500 OBO

Thanks
Brian

the tax thing your talking about is untrue. If u put a price thats lower then the blue book value then you AUTOMATICALLY pay tax on the blue book value of the car. You are right though, buying privately saves the consumer 8% tax.

What the car is appraised at is what you pay tax on. Which is $500 bucks. $40 tax. Thats the whole point of an appraisal. If you want, we will go down to the MTO and ask, and if they say i'm wrong, i will hand you the keys to the car.

If i paid 7000, and blue book says its worth 6250, then i pay tax on 7000.

If i paid 3000, and blue book value says its worth 6250, then i pay tax on 6250.

But if i get the car appraised, it voids out any blue book value because an authorized appraiser has said, its not worth 6250, its only worth 500.
Therefor, now the bluebook value is now only 500 which is what your paying tax on. They don't need any more GST then that, cause the car has already had gst paid on it already. I think once is enough IMO. Just another way for government to make more money.

Yes, if i sell the car for more then 500, then your paying tax on what you pay for it, but i'm a nice guy, and will write out a receipt saying you gave me 500 for it.

try getting a used vehicle information package from the ministry for 20 bucks. and it will have all the records of the car and you can actually put the price of the car in that package for whatever price you want and you just show that to them and tell them that a friend sold it to you for that price. That what I did and it actually worked. I bought my accord for 3000 and only paid $4.50 because we only put 50 bucks on the package.

hahaha, thanks swift.. for sure.. dumb mistake. a car is a car.. coupe sedan.. blah. all good man..

the used vehicle package is what I have for $20. You always pay the tax on the largest sum. if you pay more then what the wholesale value is, you pay tax on that.. only when the whole sale value is 0, will you pay tax on whatever you paid. Hence probably what happened to your accord.. It probably didn't have a wholesale value anymore so you paid tax on 50. My crx a long time ago, i told them i had it given to me and i paid .08 tax. cause then they make you pay tax on a dollar..

THE only way you can not pay tax, is if you get a vehicle from a family member..

I've owned close to 20 cars in my driving years, i know the system quite well.

$3500 OBO I think this is a reasonable price for a certified and etested car that only minimum tax wil be paid on.
