FS: Forzda Protezx2 - 125,000kms - $4000 - only quality modifications

Up for sale:

The bastard step-child of the Ford/Mazda marriage - built on the Mazda Protege/MX3 platform with Mazda suspension, brakes, and transmission but with a Ford body and engine.

1999 Ford Escort ZX2 "Hot"
5spd. Transmission
125,XXXkms
Sunray Gold Exterior
Tan interior

Body:

Body is in great shape - has been undercoated since new. There are a couple small door dings and a crack in the rear bumper but overall it is in great shape. Paint is slightly faded in places but still shines up great!

Some of the exterior "features" include:

- Factory Fog Lights
- Rear Spoiler
- De-badged rear
- "ZX2" embossed rear bumper
- "Bright" exhaust tip (which is now rusty)

Interior:

Tan interior is in great shape - no rips, tears, or wear inside & is incredibly clean. I don't smoke or eat or drink in my car so it stays really clean. Comes with factory floor mats (both summer and winter mats included). Manual windows, power sunroof. A/C blows super cold. Everything works.

Interior "features" include:

- B&M Short Shifter with Energy Suspension bushings
- Suede Shift Boot
- Aftermarket Shift ****
- Metra Stereo Adapter
- Alpine CDA-9830 MP3/WMA deck
- Kicker KS68 6x8" speakers
- Bazooka 8" powered bass tube
- SpeedHut Gauges

Engine:

Car is equipped with Ford's acclaimed 2L Zetec. Same engine was used in the ZX3 and other Foci. Engine development from the Focus can be applied directly to the ZX2 including goodies from the SVT Focus as well as various turbocharger and supercharger set-ups. This is a very boostable car - many running around with over 300hp.

Car gets great gas mileage (observed 9L/100km city and around 7L/100km highway) and runs great. I've done a little bit of playing with the powertrain as well which is outlined below. Car needs nothing and has been maintained very well - Mobil 1 every 5000kms.

Modifications:

- HotShot Intake with Cold Air Extension and K&N Filter
- SuperChips SCT single burn chip calibrated to mods
- MSD coil
- MSD 8.5mm wires
- Knock sensor mod (advances ignition further)
- Energy Suspension urethane motor mount inserts
- Pacesetter shorty header (not installed)
- Ford Racing UDP (not installed)

Car is basically at a little higher tune than the ZX2 S/R which put down 145hp and ran the quarter mile in 15.1 seconds. I still have a Pacesetter shorty header as well as a Ford Racing UDP to bolt on which may even push the car into the 14's. I've never track tested the car but it is sufficiently quick - as fast as my VR6 Corrado was.

Suspension:

This is where things get even more fun... handles better than a ZX2 S/R (which is no small feat) hands down. This is a fantastic handling car - incredibly neutral but pushes into oversteer at the limit.

Modifications:

- Tokico S/R struts
- H&R Race springs from Mazda MX3
- Energy Suspension bushings throughout
- 27mm front sway bar
- 21mm rear sway bar with ES endlinks and bushings
- Quality performance alignment

Wheels/Tires

Car will come with the factory 15" "Swirlie" rims with 185/60R15 Michelin Harmony tires (more than 80% tread left). Great set-up for winter - great tread life, good wet and dry performance. But, wow, ugly!

Will also include:

A set of *MINT* 16" BSA 303 (Enkei RPF1 knockoffs) 13lbs. 3 oz. each with Nexen tires with more than 80% tread left. If you don't want these then I'll be more than happy to keep them and kncok $500 off of my asking price.

Pictures:

I'll get some pictures of the interior and underhood... I'll add them at a later date.

Summary:

It kills me to do this - I really love this car. Car is just too small to suit my needs. My wife *HATES* it and refuses to drive it. There is nothing wrong with the car and if it was left up to me I would drive it for some time to come.

Price:

$4000 certified and e-tested with both sets of wheels/tires.
$3500 certified and e-tested with stock wheels/tires.
$3000 as is with stock wheels/tires and stock sound system.

Don't overlook it because it's not a Honda - this thing will eat a lot of Honda's for breakfast on both the dragstrip and the autocross circuit...
