my Z-28 squeeked and my T/A has been doing it recently. for me its the front right, pretty much squeeks all the time unless i brake. so like i can really hear it when i slow down to a stop and then when i brake it goes away.could be pads or rotors. w/e.lol

some brands of pads also squeak (rayworstus for instance)

Here is the solution.
One or maybe both of the rear rotors is rubbing a rear caliper bracket. I can almost guarentee this is causing the noise, it happens on LT1 rear brakes a lot.

There are two fixes.
The first is to remove the caliper bracket from the axle (2 bolts) and slide the bracket off off the caliper (just slide it off).
If you look closely at the bracket you will see the spots where the rotor is rubbing, you will also see the circular marks on the rotor too.
Get the disk grinder out and clearance the bracket in the areas where the contact is occuring and reassemble. I had to do this two times to completely silence the squeak.

The second method is to place a pair of thin washers or shims behind the bracket where it bolts to the axle. You are trying to slightly move the caliper bracket outward just a bit. I think GM actually sells the shim kit for this exact problem, however i dont know the part number.

The reason this happens is normal wear on the axle c-clips and or doing a R&P change. The axle is now allowed to extend outward in a hard turn and the rotor makes the loud squeak when it contacts the caliper bracket

Yeah, that annoying brake squeak is pretty common, and not that you mention it that does make perfect sense.

I was never a big fan of C-clips holding in my axles. If you have ever looked in your rear-end and saw how small those clips are that hold the axles in its a little discouraging. It should make you almost want to think twice before throwing the car sideways. I know its not something that is prone to failure, but its knowing one piece of steel not even a 1/4 thich is holdin that axle in..

and yet we throw gobs of money to make the engine make more power and high performance tires for better traction and use those little clips. they are in fact the size of a quarter.haha. o well, rather have those go out then the POS 7.5 ring gear which goes out when the wind blows. C-clips are easy to change but, idk what would do more damage, blowing up your gears or losing an axle.haha.

Well if your c-clip breaks the only think holding the axle in is the brake caliper. After that you axle/wheel can come right out..you can imagine the carnage from there..at least if your ring/pinion break the pieces stay internal..

haha yea. idk if my nittos fall off i can see some serious 1/4 panel/plastic bumper etc. damage.lol
