184rwhp/212rwtq...
May 20, 2006 - went to Palm Springs for West Coast F-Bodies dyno day. Temperature SUCKED @ 101* w/ 11% humidity. Ugh. Felt like i was in an oven.
Anyhow, car got up on the dyno, first one up, the tuning guy made the two runs using a wideband sensor.
For those of you that aren't reading the graphic, thats 184.32 RWHP @ around 4800 rpm, and 212 RWTQ @ around 4100 rpm (216 bhp/250 btq for those of you following). Apparently the cam has pushed the powerband of the car up a bit. (that was with the cutout fully open).
The silver lining to the cloud: I have a 216 hp / 250 tq 3.4L Camaro. That's well above the stock 160 hp / 200 tq that comes from the factory. I'll have to hit the track and see what kind of times I can get with this setup. I also really really wanna tune the car.
I was kind of disheartened by this dyno as I was expecting better results, however the guy that tunes cars (mostly v8 F-Bodies and the new GTOs) took me aside and pointed out the really bad 10:1 AFR and even the not-so-good 12:1 AFR at the end. He told me that if I could lean out the mix / tune the car, i would see a 10-15 tq gain down low, and then he chimed in with, "and you have a driveshaft problem you need to fix that's costing you hp/tq up top."
Those of you that have been following my posts around the boards know that I've had a mysterious vibration in the driveline and, long story short, have replaced the carrier, carrier bearings, rebalanced the tires, reshimmed the carrier and wondered about having the pinion bearings replaced...
Anyway, I have some work to do... Changed the plugs to Bosch Platinum+4, we'll see if those help any. Lots of thinking to do. Megasquirt is in my future...

yea....true. i mean i cant complain too much. put bosch platinum+4's into the ride, idles better, the msd doesnt freak out as much. i really think its just about needing ALL The fuel to be burn by the plugs.
all in all im not displeased by being where i am. i have as much hp and a little more Torque than James did, and he had his engine turned into a 3.5L and did a LOT more mods than i did (i still havent ported/polished the heads and i dont have a tune, he did.)
i need to figure out my fuel / pcm problems...then i think she'll do better
patience! lol

one other thing that was fun/funny -- maybe sad?
One of my other club members was there - Steve with his 91 RS Camaro (5.0L V8 - stockish).
I had slightly more hp (he had 180 i had 184) and slightly less tq (212 to his 220) than his v8 :-p
i have as much power as a v8! WooT! LOL j/p...

the 3400 swap you've read about is probably me posting on firebirdv6.com - or fullthrottlev6.com. i post everywhere about it. if you have any q's feel free to ask.
(im on every board, and to date the only person that has done this swap in the world that i know of (into a 4th gen camaro))

I want to know as much as possible before doing this
1.) Do you have to modify anything suck as electronical, such as coils, or can you use stock coils
2.) What was the hardest part of the conversion?
3.) what did you do about the throttle cable being that its on the opposite side?
4.) Any Sensors need to be added?
