honestly, if you want more power, swap the 3.4 in. thats what i did w/ my 2.8, it was easy and still looks exactly like a 2.8. but if youre set on that engine then you can do pretty much anything that you can to the 3.4. the same cams will work as the 3.4. you can do roller rockers, underdrive pulley, ignition, headers, catback exhaust, p&p heads and intake, i could go on. i can give you places to go for all this stuff too. but, by far, the 3.4 was the best move i ever made in my 88 camaro.

nope, used the same trans and clutch. just had to use the 3.4 flywheel, but it all bolts right up. you need these parts....
3.4
long block
flywheel/flexplate
harmonic balancer
injectors
exhaust manifolds (if you dont wanna keep your AIR pump)

2.8
intake system w/ ruel rail
exhaust manifolds (if you have AIR pump and wanna keep it)
distributor
timing cover
oil pan (although i used the 3.4 pan w/ no problems)
engine mounts

youre basically rebuilding another 2.8, just using those parts from a 3.4. its a "stealth" swap. just think, 25 to 30 more hp and 40 more lb of torque!!! and thats if you do no other mods.

i did it all myself. the engine cost me about $750, shipped to michigan from florida. then i replaced all the gaskets and valve seals, etc. no bearings or piston rings though. it only had 57k on it. roller rockers were just over $100, underdrive pulley was $40, $40 for 8.5mm plug wires, couple new sensors, lots of cleaning and prep time. header set was $220 to the door, catback and high-flow cat was lil under $300 to the door. i dont have a cam or p&p on heads and intake yet, probably end of summer. 180 degree t-stat. i opened up the dual snorkel air boxes. msd coil $40. maybe a couple other things, but i cant think of them right now. centerforce dual friction clutch is a week away from being installed. and its all been worth it to smoke a 305/auto on the street/strip without a problem
