2nd gen question.

Ok I have a question, why do some of the early 2nd gens have front bumpers like this?

and others like this.

I have noticed it doesn't matter what year the 2nd gen is, their are two different front clips versions for all the versions from the early 70's.

**** that white one is gorgeous. and about the bumpers, i dont know, i've noticed differences too...

archemedes 12-21-2004 01:41 PM

the first one is a real rs, the second was an owner conversion aka fake

archemedes 12-21-2004 01:41 PM

the "split bumper" was available from '70 to '73 and only with the rs package

RFF 12-21-2004 01:44 PM

Why does the first one look like it has fog lights? Is that an RS package only thing or something cause their is a Z28 running around here that has the same bumper style as the first one.

archemedes 12-21-2004 01:47 PM

rs could be ordered with z28, the first one those are the marker lights, there is nothing below the bumper (at least from the factory)

Thanks if I ever get another Camaro I would like it to be like the 2nd gen from the first link.

archemedes 12-21-2004 02:26 PM

that's the body style I've been looking at, or a '69

RFF 12-21-2004 02:30 PM

I wonder how hard it was to put that LS1 in the car from the 2nd link. I haven't seen many LS1 or LT1's in older muscle cars.

archemedes 12-21-2004 02:40 PM

there is a kit for it now from what I gather, hotchkiss did it when teh ls1 first came out

archemedes 12-21-2004 02:41 PM

but the '70-'71 had the 396 as an optional engine

Hmm, old school 396 VS LS1.

archemedes 12-21-2004 03:31 PM

cheaper to build a ton of power from the big block than make the ls1 work at all

Most older muscle cars don't handle well stock anyway. You gotta invest in some serious suspension mods to make it handle right.
