3rd gear clutch slipping

well when im cruising around town my transmission shifts fine, but when im on it it shifts 1st to 2nd fine, then 2nd to 3rd the "clutch" slips and it gets to 4900 rpm then just jumps up to around 5300 and finally shifts. its like i put it in neutral and continued to hit the gas...you know..clutch slippin

i hear that the 700R4/4L60 and 4L60E have weak 3rd gear clutches but im wondering if anyone else has had this so-called common problem?

You rebuilt the top end of the engine, now it is time to rebuild the transmission.

yep the planetary is the weak link there is an aftermarket unit that's less likely to crack

i was told to get a transgo shift kit and vette servo. my guess is since this is internal that probably wont help...

nope it will help kill it a shift kit won't stop a slipping clutch unless it's caused by low pressure (which would slip in more than one gear)

at first i thought it was low fluid...so i had the tranny serviced last year and it didnt fix it...but if the slippage is caused by low pressure...maybe i can get one of the b&m electronic shift kits cuz that one increases pressure...what do ya think? it actually might be worth the 35 bucks...

by the way i've always wondered...what is it that pressurizes the tranny fluid? just the moving gears?

if you put a b&m part in the trans to fix that just order a whole new trans you'll need it sooner or later, b&m shift kits are know to kill transmissions alone now add it to one that needs service and it will be a mess

k this is what transgo's website says:

reduces 3-4 clutch failure
shouldnt the transgo kit fix the problem then?
