4th gen to 1st gen?
Does anyone know if there is a kit or a way to convert a 93-97 lt1 to a 1st gen. what i would like to do is have 4th gen engine drivetrain but 1st gen body and interior.

lmao. sorry. no. it takes a lot of custom fabbing and tweaking to do it but it is possible. i saw an ls1 in a 55 somethin wagon yesterday.

Actually a company has just releases a 'body kit' that you use on your 4th gen Camaro that uses 1st gen panels. I know at first it sounds gay but judging from the pictures it looks pretty good!!
I don't know the price, but I know you have to add 8" of chassis length to car so the wheel base is the same as the first gen. But given the going price for a decent 69 these days, it might be cheaper to get an LS1 and slap on the 69 body. You have the look of ancient muscle with the benefits of modern day convience. |
you can buy a new '69 body for 10 grand to do a conversion triple it
|
Bottom line- if you want the look of a 69 that you actually aren't embarressed to drive- expect an EASY 25-30 grand to get it no matter which way you go.
These days its the car to have and the going prices for them prove it. |
i remember back in the day someone made a 4th gen into a 69 camaro it came out real nice i will do a search and try to see if i can find the pics
|
That'd be awesome if you could find the pictures.
|
so basically it would look similar to the new camaro?? lol

There's a lot more to it than what the article put in though- just lengthing the body alone would be a ton of work! |
it's easier to find a body, and buy a custom clip (fatman fabrications makes one) that accepts the ls1
|
my dream car would be a 69 with a built LS1...someday i will have one
|
eh honestly you can put an ls1 in anythign now adays.. including rx-7's and miatas... both very very very fast combinations

My dream Camaro would be either a '67, '68, or '69 (all have their good and bad looks to them). With an LS7. Probably a '69 just because you could buy them with a 427ci V8 so it would be a kind of tribute. But with more power :D |

and grants right its stilla miata |
tru that it's still a miata but what happens when all u can see are its tail lights and your buddy sitting next to you is laughing at you? haha. power to weight ratio...

dynacorn bodies are 13k for the '69 camaro. they also make a convertible body .
in regards to the OP's question, no, there is no easy way about it. as i am sure you've surmised by the many replied to the effect, the wheelbase is different, the body width is different, the sub-frame is different (in length and width, in addition to the engine mounts). so you've either been woken up abruptly from your dream or you've got a serious project ahead of you. the completed fourth/first gen camaro: .chevyhiperformance.com/featuredvehicles/0606_chpp_new_1969_chevy_camaro/index.html]New 1969 Chevy Camaro - LS1 Crate Engine - The Hybrid Camaro .chevyhiperformance.com/tech/chassis/completebuilds/0606ch_2002_chevy_camaro_body_kit_install/index.html]2002 Chevy Camaro - 1969 Chevy Camaro Sheet Metal Kit Install - Chevy High Performance http://images.chevyhiperformance.com...+side_view.jpg |
