95z throwing flames

recently posted i have replaced distributor ignition coil, cap, rotor.. but i crank my car and it hesitating while giving it gas and wont idle, if i press the gas and left off it throws a 2ft flame, you cant adjust the timin with the distributor, so what the hell, i unplugged the TPS and ses light came on so thats working , and same with the MAS, any suggestions????

if youre getting flames you're dumping gas

97z2801ss 09-13-2006 11:20 PM

injectors maybe?

FORCE_FED_Z 09-14-2006 06:33 PM

Sounds like either timing is off or possibly injectors are hooked up wrong and firing at the wrong time- which would cause both rough idle and flames

id say you plugged the injectors back in in the wrong order.. its dumpin gas into the cylinders on the wrong stroke, not burning all of the gas, so your not producing power in those 2 cylinders causing the skipping and rough idle.. and then the gas is dumped out on the exhaust stroke and ignigting from the heat of the exhaust..

i agree, check to make sure you hooked em up where they belong or you will get a nasty misfire

did u mess with the injectors?

flyingcr250 09-15-2006 10:20 AM

and no i didnt dp anything to the injectors they have nothing to do with the distributor, and you cant adjust the timing , so how can it be off.

FORCE_FED_Z 09-15-2006 04:31 PM

We all know they have nothing to do with the distributor, you asked for what it could be and it was an idea since you MIGHT have had the intake off for some reason.

The timing CAN be off on the newer style distributor, it can be done. Off hand the only other thing I can think would be possibly the wires are either cross firing or hooked up to the distributer incorrectly..

flyingcr250 09-17-2006 11:04 AM

well i checked the connections and they are all hooked up to the distributor properly, so i guess next step is to the shop. thanx

are u sure the plug wires arent crossed, did u line the dowel pin with the opti slot, are your spark plugs fouled?
