Any Suggestions?

My '94 Z has 143,000 miles but has a fairly new engine (only 13,000). The next item at the top of my list to do is the quite expensive task of replacing the transmission (4L60E). It seems every time that I need my car to be at its best it just decides to not shift into 3rd and the rpms just get sent up there.:banghead: I'm looking to turn my car into a decent car at the track but still keep it reasonably streetable. I was also thinking of maybe putting in a 2000-2500 stall torque converter as well.

So are there any suggestions as to where i could find a decently priced ($1000-1500) transmission? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Thanx for the suggestions. I thought about getting it rebuilt but I got some prices on how much it would cost to rebuild. And for the prices I was given I can just buy a brand new beefed up one. I just think that that would be a safer bet.

Saw this in the April issue of Chevy High Performance magazine. Comes with everything you need. Might be a little more than your are wanting to speed but it gives you an idea of what it might cost.

a professionaly rebuilt trans by a good shop will be stronger than most of the mail order rebuilds that say they are stronger (many of the companies just replace one of the many known weak parts of a trans) usually it costs less to do it local, plus if it does break you have a human to ***** at (the guy that does mine always gives me a warranty basically asking me to try and break one, and he goes to the track too)

youre a retard. he has a 4L60E not a T56.

anyway, i had your exact problem with the 3rd gear shifting in my v6 camaro. its the 3rd clutch thats worn. i'd honestly recommend rebuilding it yourself. i've rebuild a 350 and a 440T4 and it isnt really that difficult.
