Question Anyone with an SS Hood?

Lately I've been trying to decide whether or not to put a different hood on the car. I know that the SS hoods let more air into the engine but I'm not sure if they act as a cold air intake or not. I've found a few other styles on the internet but so far I kind of like the SS style so far. I was kind of wondering though if anyone that has the ss hood on their V6 seen a difference in performance and does a lot of parts have to be changed to fit a different hood on.

You would have to fabricate the hell out your intake system to make it functional for the SS hood. Most people get them for looks.

most "ram air" type hoods make either no power or cause a loss of power, the opening is in a low pressure area at speed

Wow! I guess that sounds like it just isn't worth the work for such a little amount of power. That really sucks.

The only car that showed a difference was the WS-6, but it wasn't until the car is going over 100 mph.

Your average around town driving isn't going to show any positive difference. In fact I bet your horse would go down since your air intake plumbing is going to heat-soak from sitting on top of the motor. If you want any ponies, just get a true cold-air that pulls from down low in front of your driver tire.

Go with the SLP Ultra-Z hood, you can buy them with or without the ram air package. Even with out the ram-air package, the hood still puts air into your factory intake box. I'm not saying that you will get more hp though. I never felt a difference with mine, but I bought it mainly for looks, even though it is functional.
