burning oil

so my oil light came on yesterday and it took a quart and a half to get back to full. Also when i took the oil cap off smoke came out. I was told i have a small oil leak but does anyone know why it could be doing this? maybe the leak drained the oil than because of low levels it burned? idk pls help. Also paar what was that seafoam stuff u used and how does it work?

thanx

How long are you going between oil changes?

Look in my thread, it explains everything there.

Its named seafoam.

You must have a pretty bad leak for it to drop a quart and a half that fast.

If youve never changed them, sounds like youre due either way. What year is yours? If its 00 or more, you lucked out and at least have tubulars.

Seafoam would do a lot for it... Id figure out your oil problem first.

i have no clue where that oil could have gone...doesn't sound like its burning it that bad and you said that it doesn't leave oil on the concrete. thats really wierd. how often do you check it? did you check it when the engine was still hot?

Sounds like my car, it seems to loose oil rather fast...I dont even keep it all the way full since its going away haha....it hardly leaks but when I come home from schoool if the sun is right I can see and smell cleark smoke coming from the top right of my hood (thats top left from in car right by the mirror) who knows...
