Camaro Security features

i have a 1995 3.4 L and i got a viper alarm installed with remote start about a yr ago and now when i try and turn it on the "SECURITY" light comes on and i know on the owners manual says the PASS key feature does this and to give it 3 minutes to reset then start it again but now my car wont start with the remote start or the key, anyone know how to fix this problem any ideas i would really appreciate any help!!

With an aftermarket alarm system, especially a Viper system (they are a pain in the ***, but a good system) its tough to tell. The security lockout feature is only dictated by the resistor in your key, now, with an aftermarket alarm system I wouldnt know what additional things could cause the security lockout feature to activate, but I would mostly likely guess you've either got a problem with your key, or with your ignition.

what viper system do you have... that would help narrow down what security features it has.

You wouldnt know you had a problem with the key until this started happening. Its just a resistor placed near the base of the key that will no longer have the same resistance to current.

And to answer your question, doubtful. You will need a new key and ignition regardless if that is the case.

But as Paar said, if we knew what type of Viper system you had, it would be much easier to tell.

I was having problems like this in the summer. It was my key the "chip" part gets worn down and s it up. My girlfriends car has the same thing going on with it.

You know there is a bypass that you can incorporate into the ignition system that will basically negate the resistor issues.... I found the mod on camaroV6 forums I believe, but am having an issue locating the original thread. I'll see if I can locate it and post a link to it if possible.

most of the alarm companies make a module, but all it is is an overpriced resistor pack in pretty packaging
