cat is so gone

ok well for months now my cat has been rattling. one of the screens was loose and has been rattling. well lately the acceleration has sucked, and today its almost slower then a lawn mower and my exhaust is really, really quiet.

a year ago my dads vette did the same thing, turns out his cat had melted up or something, so i think mine did the same.

well its no biggie, cuz i ordered a test pipe for it, but i was thinking about the valves. i still have my old heads if i need to replace a valve or even the head, but i had to work today so i had to drive a lot with it this bad.

based on what i know the cat is restricting exhaust flow, hence creating enormous backpressure and killing performance, and my gas mileage has been horrible lately, and i think its cuz since theres so much exhaust in the manifold the O2 sensor is reading a lotta oxygen and making it run rich.

im going to take my cat off and gut it til i get the test pipe, but i was wondering if maybe someone else thinks its a different problem.

Thats what happened to my bronco, The honeycomb kinda **** thats in there got all clogged up wit stuff and it was so slow i hit like a max of 20mph goin up hill, so i just cut the thing right out and put a straight pipe there and it ran like a raped ape.

werd maybe that's the problem with my car. I only get 10-13 mpg lately and my throttle response is really sluggish lately.

hahaha!!!!!!!

i rule. i took the cat off, and another bolt got stuck in in, so i cut it off. now i have bailing wire holding it on tightly. surprisingly it holds very well.

anyway it took awhile to get all the pieces out, then i started it without the cat for a sec just to see...and **** cams are cool!!!!!!

anyway i slapped it on and bolted it all back, and i felt the gain from my cam i shoulda felt 2 months ago. like i said this cat has been bad for awhile, so now that its fixed my cam is really showin, and with a gutted cat, oh man!

idle is so unbelievably mean, and when i get on it, its loud, but not ricey. before with the cat on the exhaust seemed very drony and artificial. now its very throaty, be it good or bad, its much better.

now i think its header time

by the way, what do headers do for a car as far as sound goes? do they deepen it or make it louder?
