ok so you block the hole in the back of the pump but not in the timing cover?

It is possible. Most people use the Cloyes double roller timing set meant for 87+ roller engines. I was going to dig that far in to the engine, but decided not to due to a new engine coming this tax season. (Hopefully) The only real modification when doing the timing chain is you have to clearance the timing chain cover and plug the hole where the shaft comes out.

Here is the part number and link to the most commonly used set by people who switch to the EWP's.

Those work- but I'd like to know how they drive their opti- the cam gear needs to be machined so that it can accept the drive pin for the opti.

Unless there is an unknown trick out there that I don't, as far as I have come across, I can't figure out how people do it. I would love to know since I have a double roller set sitting in the drawer that I can't use because it doesn't have the opti drive-

could they be switching to a crank trigger maybe?

Delteq is nice except it still uses the opti for the timing-

Possibly a crank trigger set-up, not for sure though- i would love to know- I would run the del-teq and delete the opti in a minute.
