driveshaft

An LS1 aluminum driveshaft will fit V6s right? I was thinking about picking one up in the future, just trying to get some research on them.

Nope. Not always. Typically the u-joint is too large to fit in the rear housing. Sometimes works tho lol.

I just did a quick check and the U joints have the same part number between v6 (using a '97) and v-8 (using a '01)

I hear alot of issues from people who can't figure out how to install parts (I wonder if maybe the caps are missing, and they don't know enough to realize it?)

I put the aluminum driveshaft on my 3.4 V6 Camaro with no problems. It really took a lot of weight off from the two peice one that was on there.

Well I had the extremely heavy two piece driveshaft so it made a nice difference. The car really got up to speed faster so it was well worth it to me. If I had a 3.4 Camaro I'd do it again.

I don't know for sure what driveshaft the other V6 Camaro's have to be quite honest.

Worse case is you take it to a driveshaft place and have them put a different yoke on the end of it, but like Chad said it should be a drop in replacement..of course you might get lucky and have problems too..

I think any time you can replace a 2 piece shaft with a 1 piece you should do it, carrier bearings are just another potential failure point that can be elimiated easily

It'll fit but if your outta luck you might end up having to replace the ujoints like i did. $20 installed. not too bad. Make sure its out of an 4L60E LS1, if you have an auto.
Also make sure its balanced with good yoke and ujoints.

Dont pay too much either.. $120+ is too much. got mine for $80 but then paid 20 for new joints so yeah. Didnt feel much of a difference, maybe its just me. Probably does hit the mph's faster, it insanely lighter tho than the stock one.
