Electric water pump

Does anyone know if the Corvette LT1 water pump is electric? I want to put on an electric water pump and remove the belt (HP). I know the LT1's are reverse flow and Mazzere makes an electric $190 just looking for budget alternitives.

None of the LT1's are belt driven water pumps, they are all cam driven.

So if you are takin stock vette water pump, it would be basically the same as F-body. Their really isn't an cheap alternative for you that I know of..sorry

Thanks guys, im new to the LT1 I thought it was belt driven. The caprice thing is interesting. I will look into it and get back. I want to take off all the belt driven accesories, A/C, Alt.,P/S, Smog Pump? - do you think I will have any problem with the rack if I take off the P/S pump? and do you feel the HP gains are worth even going to an electric water pump? I am moving the battery to the rear and running charging ports through the back bumper to charge the battery between rounds.

its not worth it to take any of that stuff off. you MAY see a slight increase with an electric water pump, most people say theres a slight difference but not much. igot a factory replacement for 50 bucks i think it was. theres not much gain by taking that stuff out.

typically you can about 15 hp or so by eliminating the belt driven stuff, but things like the alternator need to run on a belt or you lose spark energy from low voltage, so not worth it except on a car dedicated to the drag strip. Also keep in mind most electric water pumps are not designed for street use, they can't run that long

The car is drag only no street. I might keep the alt like rex did, any issues with disconnecting the P/S pump? Do I need to loop the lines together or just plug em off?- I'm not only trying to eliminate HP robbing items I am trying to lighten up the front end.

Just get 1 piece of hose and connect the 2 by where the steering box is.

replace the rack with a manual one there is a big difference in weight that way.
