evryond read this!

okay this is going to be a long post so get ready and dont just read half, if ur gonna take the time to start reading it just finish it up.
well i have been on here since august, when i frist got my 1998 3.8L camaro. and i have done alot of reaserch and looking on this site (everyday) and many many other sites, and i have cam to relize (in my eyes) that it is pointless, and a waste of time and money to try to make a v-6 fast. others may think different tho.. so i am going to keep my camaro the way it is, maby do a few other mods to make it look better, but no performance mods. and i am going to buy a 2nd gen camaro 1970-1981. and put either a 350 or 383 stroker motor in it and have it as a weekend car. i will still keep and have as a daily drive my 1998, and have the second gen as a high performance weekend car. now many of you are either thinking my parents buy me everything or im just crazy and dont know a thing about money. well i do, im only 15 and i have a job with steady money comming to me, therefore i have no bills to pay, no nothing, just gas money, and the rest is for whatever i wanna do with it. so that is how im gonna be able to afford it. i just wanna thank evrybody for giving me advice on things and giving me alot of information that i didnt know. ever since the first day i joined this site i learned soo much about camaros. motors and just cars in general. so basically i just wanted to thank evrybody for what they do on this site. it really works on teaching ppl about cars and stuff.

Yeah, it may be a waste of time and money, and youll never get one as fast as a v8, obviously, but good luck with your future endeavours.

i agree tht it is easier and cheaper to just get an 8, but I see everyone's point also about modding a v6. I mean its a challenge and a big accomplishment if you can make a 6 beat an 8.

Ok first off.... You sound just like Caleb and thats not always a good thing... hehe

Your 15 and you have a 98 v6 and all you pay is gas right? Well are your parents going to buy you the 2nd gen and pay for all of that ****? Because most of the time you are not going to be able to find a very nice 2nd gen without restoring it. And restoring it cost alot of money.. And if your parents do pay for the whole 2nd gen and keep it up, are you able to now pay for gas in 2 vehicles.. Ones bad enough for me but sometimes I have to pay for 2..

But I have also though about getting a 8. I thought about trading in my car now and getting like 10-12k on it and buying like a 99 LS1 for 10k or so. But after I got to thinking, if I do this my dad will make me pay for insureance (i dont pay it now) and gas (that i do pay lol). Thats alot more money coming out of my pocket for the car. And plus, im in my first year of college and a few more years most likely I'll be moving out. There is no way that I would be able to pay for a LS1 and a house unless I get a nice job.

And after thinking about the LS1 and how much fun it would be, I thought hey why not turbocharge my 6 and have it be pushing out like 300-400 rwhp? To me it would be awesome to walk up to some Camaro owners w/ all their v8's and be like hey I have a turbocharged V6 thats pushin that much hp.. I don't know but like a race I think people would respect you more if you put that time into making a 6 fast rather than making a 8 faster..

All im just sayin is think things through.. Like the future and how would buying this car effect you... I don't know, but thats what I think about all this..

your 15 and want a v8? haha wow u dont need that much power at 15 so many kids die because they get fast cars at a young age. A V6 is find and can be made faster then a LT1 quite easy. A LS1 add a turbo. Why people want to beat those I dunno Im going for 12 n/a and it can and will be done.

You've never had to pay insurance have you?

Assuming your 16 when you get the V8. Well. Thats gonna be a crap load of money to pay for insurance. Hell I just turned 26, no tickets ever, and a 98 LS1 would still cost me a bundle.

Also At your age you won't have much expenses.. But soon as you move out, go to college, your gonna be rolling in debt. College is a debt machine, living on your own is also expensive (utilities, rent, food, ect).

If you can live at home and go to college, more power to you. But I'm telling you from experience, you may be high and dry now but thats gonna change really soon.

I would love to get a 60s/70s Camaro and just customize the hell outa the thing/ built up my own engine ect... But I KNOW thats not gonna happen till I graduate, get a descent job, pay off school loan. And even then if I get married before hand that may screw the dream too. hehe

yeah. i have no other bills to pay, and im gonna hook up the 2nd gen all by myself, cuz bringing in 200$ a paycheck it can ALL go to the car. and im not gonna get a z28 or ss b/c of high insuarnce, im gonna get a base model and put a 350 or stroker in it. and i have plenty of space to work on it and stuff. and i am a little daring with racing cars and stuff.. but im not stupid, i always wear seatbelt no matter what and i never drive stupid. and i know that all this is gonna change with money and all that pretty soon, thats why im gonna do it now, cuz all my other older friends tell me all that, so im gonna do it now, work alot and get as much as i can while i have no big bills (college, insurance, and other bills). so by the time i start getting all those big bills comming in to pay for, i will already have my 2 toys and be able to pay all my bills off :-)

I had ambitions similar to this at your age also... It took me 2 other cars before I got my Camaro, and you are forgetting also that older cars are going to ocassionally be higher maintenence. Dont throw the idea of repairs out of the question. I wanted to make my Regal a machine when I was 15, but your money will go fast. If you can accomplish it, more power too you. I just woulndt throw all my money into it if I were you, if somthing goes wrong, you will regret it. You have plenty of time later in life to do these things, youre only 15.

$200 a week will be gone on the car fast(that is no money really), especially on a car that old, and gas gets expensive quick

But you have to think about when you get your license.. You are going to be driving alot and gas is going to be a lot more.. And also 200 a week is not all that good trust me because thats was I make... And you said that you get that money and it would all go for your car. Well so that means that you will not buy anything else for yourself? Like said above you have all you life to do something like that, you dont need to do it at the age of 15..

I hear that I make a little under 200 and week with my National Guard pay once a month and I'm barely have enough to pay for gas and insurance for my V6 which still needs a little work. So take care of what you got and dont take more than you can chew or you'll regret it
